Summer beauty essentials

Let's face it ladies and gents....we're not getting any younger. It's inevitable. But...there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to age gracefully with wisdom, poise and, yes, a bit of anti-aging cream.

I noticed my first grey hair my sophomore year in college, and true to form, the old adage came true. Pick one out, and three will replace it. Three became six, six became twelve and overnight, exponentially, my thirty-something head is now a gorgeous light brown with caramel highlights c/o my favorite stylist, Karen Sgroi. (Check her salon website out here.)

So to get ahead of father time, below is a small list of summer essentials to help you keep your skin youthful and glowing and your hair color from fading during the sunny summer months.

I love sitting outside in the summer summer sun, but squinting equals wrinkles. My favorite sunglasses are these polarized ones from Ray Ban. These are my third pair. They wrap around my head just enough to keep out the sun.

And of course, don't forget sunscreen! This has been my go to this summer for my face. It was a great find. Non greasy, ultra light and fragrance free..

And I am unfortunately prone to the dreaded cold-sore. I can't live without a good lip balm with SPF. This Nivea lip balm in a Kiss of Smoothness with SPF 10 is a must in my bag.

And for that little extra protection from sunglare, I love this hat I found on Neccessaryclothing.com. It's perfect for a day on the beach!

Oh the little things that keep me smiling...and wrinkle free!

What are some of your summer essentials?

#100happydays

Summer is by far my most favorite season. Whether I'm sitting on the beach with a good book, toes in the sand and ocean waves gently crashing in the distance or sitting on the back porch with a glass of wine and good conversation with family and friends, I just can't get enough of the sunshine and smell of flowers and fresh cut grass in the air. It's pure bliss.

But as the days slowly get shorter, and school days are upon us, I can't help to get excited and feel inspired by the amazing color palette that fall brings. When the leaves turn color my yard looks like a painters canvas. It's stunningly beautiful.

So, although summer makes me happiest, I find inspiration in the other seasons to keep that bright spirit up the rest of the year! Happiness that comes from within and radiates outward from our soul. So to prepare myself for the close of my favorite season, I'm reminded that it is the little things in life that bring us true happiness. This is why I decided to embark on the #100happydays challenge. Check out the website. I find it truly inspirational!

Each day I've been posting something that makes me happy on one of my social media sites. Today, I share with you. And since this is a beauty blog, what better place than to post Day 17. Color! I could spend all day walking through the isles of Sephora swooning over the shades of polish. They make me so happy! Hey, it's the little things in life.

Color! I'm inspired by colors each season, and as fall is upon us, here are some ideas to put a pop of a fall inspired color on your nails!

Like Deborah Lippmann's New York Marquee collection. This juicy magenta 12th Street Rag? Don't mind if I do!

Or this deep indigo blue Harlem Nocturne....

Or Le Vernis by Chanel...

And who could resist any one of these from NARS....hmmmmm....I'll take one of each please!

Although I'm sad to see summer go, I think a fresh coat of paint on my nails (and maybe a pumpkin or 2) will keep me going through the season.

What beauty color are you inspired for this fall?
